LCD TV Extended Warranty VS Waste Of Money???

I'm planning to get a LCD tv soon (Samsung LN46A860) and I was thinking if I should go for the extended warranty, which is like $200 for extra 3 years or $270 for 5 years,
OR is it just a waste of money?
The tv comes with a standard manufacturer's warranty of 18 months.

Winded up going for the $299 for 3 year extended warranty.

Basically you just paid for nothing. Average display life is 50,000 hours or 5.78 years if run 24x7. Sorry I didnt catch ya in time.

What if yours sucks and dies after 14 months....

I got an extended warranty on my TV. Certain products are worthwhile to get them for.

I disagree, the insurance companies that back the extended warranties often have overly hard claims processes and hoops to jump through. Even Best Buy who in the warranty pitch tell you to "just bring it back to the store" will end up sending it off for weeks to be repaired. Also, it had a standard 18 mo warranty, so if it dies after 14, he would be covered by that.

if it was a car i would say waste of money but for LCD do it spend the extra 270
